A CRASH on the M4 eastbound near Bath has caused long tailbacks this morning.
The crash involving an electric car and a lorry between Junction 18 and 17 has now been cleared but has caused an 8-mile queue adding around 90 minutes onto journey times.
The tweet by fire crews suggested the electric car may have posed a safery risk, hampering the effort to clear the carriage way.
Bath Fire Station tweeted: "We’ve been mobilised at change of shift to the M4 this morning for a RTC which involved an electric car. We have isolated and made safe and left in the hands of the @HighwaysSWEST."
