An EMPTY corner shop in Old Town could be converted into four one-bedroom flats.

The store on the corner of Eastcott Hill and Stafford Street is the subject for an application for planning permission from Swindon Borough Council to change its use and transform it into four apartments.

The shop area on the ground floor of the building is currently disused and it is backed by a large storage area. On the upper floor there is 150 square metres of residential space.

The application by developer Sidney Sheen of KS Ltd proposes converting the building into two one-bedroom flats on the ground floor, which will need a small extension of the building at the rear and two on the upper storey.

There is no parking for the building which is flush to the pavement on Stafford Street and has a very small area in front on Eastcott Hill.

The proposal is to provide a combined cycle and bin store.
