Tara Kinsella, from Covingham, raised £2,500 running the 2019 London Marathon.

Fraud strategy manger was raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support having recently lost her aunty to ovarian cancer.

Tara used to be part of the Swindon Harriers as a child. About three years ago she met her fiancé, Ashley, and together they went to watch the London Marathon.

“It was really inspirational watching all the other runners," she said.

Tara entered the ballot but applied for a charity place after missing out.

"It was great to get in, said Tara. “But then I had a minimum of £2,500 to raise, and to train to get up to a marathon."

Tara raised a significant amount of this by hosting a charity evening when she and Ashley got engaged instead of an engagement party. They asked for donations from families and friends.

“It was really nice to be able to celebrate our engagement and fundraise the majority of money at the same time.”
