A PAINTING by a young Highworth artist received top marks after exhibition visitors voted it as their favourite.
The town's mayor Coun Julia Bishop opened the preview evening of the Highworth Artists' Society Spring Exhibition with her husband Coun Alan Bishop and presented the Spring Rose Bowl trophy to Luke Richardson for his painting 'Mushrooms'.
The artists' society is fundraising for local dementia support initiatives in its 50th year and its members hope that donations given for refreshments served throughout the week will help to raise a good amount for these causes. The exhibition is held in the Community Room next to the council offices on Gilberts Lane from 10am to 4pm every day until May 11.
