THE Mayor of Highworth raised more than £2,000 for the Alzheimer's Society at the annual Mayor's' Dinner.

Coun Julia Bishop was joined by esteemed guests including Swindon mayor Junab Ali, Swindon Borough Council leader David Renard, Lord Leftenant of Wiltshire Sarah Troughton, North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson, Royal Wooton Bassett mayor Michael Farrow, and Nicky Alberry in what was her last engagement as High Sheriff of Wiltshire.

Mayor Bishop said: "It was a fabulous evening with a fantastic meal at a gorgeous hotel and brilliant entertainment from Lilia Slattery and Neil Patterson. Nicky is the most lovely person, she's fantastic and done so well during her time as high sheriff and it was lovely to see her."

The Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia around the country.

Coun Bishop has spent her mayoral year fundraising for the charity
