POLICE officers sped to the scene of what was suspected to have been an attempted burglary.
However, the Advertiser understands the incident was sparked by a misunderstanding.
Residents in Badbury Park were shocked to wake on Saturday morning to find a heavy police presence at the top of Homington Avenue, near the junction with Marlborough Road.
At least five police cars, including a van, could be seen in the street, according to eyewitness reports - prompting concerns of what one resident described as a major incident.
But a Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said officers were responding to a report of a suspected attempted burglary. "When we attended all was in order and no crime had been committed," she added.
