DOING those little jobs now will help boost your mental health.

"Do that thing" is today's top top for improving wellbeing from BBC Wiltshire's Mental Wealth calendar.

The month-long campaign, backed by the Swindon Advertiser, offers daily advice of things that can help improve your everyday mental health and wellbeing.

Top of many people's list of things to do - and rarely completed until a week before the deadline - is filling in their tax return. But you should.

Martin Gurney, a partner at Swindon accountancy firm Haines Watts, said: "There are two reasons why you should not procrastinate over completing and submitting your tax return.

"Firstly, the sooner your tax return is completed, the sooner you can determine, and plan for, the tax payments arising. Second, HMRC technically only get a 12 month 'window of enquiry' to review or challenge a tax return based on the submission date. The earlier it is submitted, the sooner the review period is closed down."
