A LONDONER will go on trial on Monday charged with murdering former paratrooper Ken Kiley.
Dario Carboni is accused of killing the 75-year-old former British Army officer in a hit-and-run on Southernwood Drive, Swindon, on July 8.
Carboni, of Gospatrick Road, Tottenham, pleaded not guilty to murder on October 12 last year. At an earlier court hearing on September 14, Carboni denied causing death by dangerous driving, but pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified.
The murder trial is expected to open at Bristol Crown Court on Monday.
In a tribute issued last July, Mr Kiley's family described him as a warm, gentle and unassuming man. They said: "He loved nothing more than spending time with his loving wife Marion and two sons Adam and Matthew, reading his history books, teaching German classes to his friends in Swindon and playing long distance chess with an old army colleague.”
