MPs who delay Brexit will face the "understandable backlash" from a frustrated public, North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson said.

It followed news that talks between Labour and Conservative parties to try and find a Brexit compromise had collapsed.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn pulled the plug on talks, saying they had "gone as far as they can".

Allies of Theresa May pointed the finger of blame at opposition Brexit secretary Sir Kier Starmer, who has suggested the withdrawal agreement is unlikely to pass the Commons without the promise of a second referendum.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "Those MPs who continue to ignore the clear democratic will, having promised to respect the result will continue to face the understandable backlash from a frustrated and angry British public. Rightly, they expect us to get on with delivering Brexit and that is exactly what I and Robert [Buckland] are doing."
