Dario Carboni was today jailed for nine years for the manslaughter of Kenneth Kiley.
In a statement read out by his defence counsel Stephen Kamlish QC, Carboni admitted he had been too "cowardly" to admit he had been driving the car when it fatally struck Mr Kiley.
Carboni had consistently blamed passenger Patrick Cunnington throughout the trial for being the driver when the car had hit Mr Kiley.
