WE apologise for the rather poor quality of our main image, which was taken directly from an 86-year-old edition of the Adver.
Even though it isn’t exactly pin-sharp, however, we doubt Rewind readers will have any trouble recognising the building.
The artist’s impression, which appeared on a front page in the spring of 1933, showed the Art Deco-influenced Swindon Corporation Electricity Showrooms, due to be built on Regent Circus.
As the decades passed, the building was also home to cafes and a furniture shop.
It eventually became - and remains - Rudis bar, whose outside tables stand where people once gazed at the latest 1930s gadgets.
