A SELL-OUT field of close to 450 runners braved the rain to raise funds for a Swindon primary school on Wednesday night.

The popular Lethbridge 10k, which coincides with the Old Town Festival, was staged for the 24th year and saw runners cover footpaths, trails and roads through the south Swindon countryside after starting out at Croft Sports Centre.

Organised by the Friends of Lethbridge Primary School, this year’s event saw compostable – rather than plastic – cups used in order to reduce its impact on the environment.

Swindon Harriers filled the first four places, with Ben Cole clocking a winning time of 32mins 42secs and Simon Byrne second in 33:41.

The top lady was 13th-placed Catie O’Donoghue of Bristol and West, who finished in 39:20.
