A timber-clad chalet “in poor condition and of no architectural merit" in a village near Swindon could be knocked down and replaced by a two-storey home if a new application is approved.
Randal Pakeman, who lives in Faringdon, has applied for permission from Swindon Borough Council’s planning department to knock down the chalet used for holiday lets in Hinton Parva and replace it with a more substantial family home.
The existing chalet sits on an L-shaped plot of land behind cottages on Church Row in the village east of Wanborough.
Mr Pakeman wants to knock down the wooden building and replace it with a four-bedroom home which looks like a bungalow from one side, but uses the slope on the site to have a ground floor from the other.
One bedroom would be on that ground floor.
