A NEW Saturday school will teach Polish children about their parents’ culture and language.
Akademia Orlat Polskich, based at Westlea Primary School, becomes the second Swindon Saturday school aimed at youngsters of Polish heritage.
Headteacher Justyna Korolewicz, an educational therapist by training, said children were growing up more English than Polish.
“Our children know better English than Polish. This place will show them that Polish culture is important for them,” she said.
“They have grandparents and other family in Poland. We don’t have families here. In the holidays we go to Poland and they have to speak in Polish to their grandparents.”
The school would teach Polish language skills, history and culture.
