Councillors will get to debate and vote tomorrow on recommendations that they will receive no increase in their allowances this year.
Swindon Borough Council's independent remuneration panel has put forward the suggestion that the basic councillor allowance remains at £8,552. It will only increase in line with a national pay increase for council officers.
The panel recommended that pecial responsibility allowances, for the leader, cabinet members and the chairmen of committee are also not increased, except for that of the deputy leader.
If the recommendations are approved the council's leader David Renard will have an allowance of £34,208, significantly less than the leader of Wiltshire Council.
Members of the cabinet will receive £21,380 except deputy leader Russell Holland, who will get £24,373.
