Kingsdown School pupils have been raising funds for Swindon mayor Kevin Parry's chosen charities.
A non-uniform day was organised by the students and successfully raised over £650 for CALM (Cancer and Leukaemia Movement) and Swindon and North Wilts Deaf Children’s Society.
The presentation of the cheque this week also coincided with the launch of Kingsdown’s student leadership programme.
Mr Parry said: “I’m blown away, it was a last-minute thing, the children were very responsive to me and they fully supported me.
“To raise £650 in one day is pretty impressive, they were very professional in how they approached things and I’m quite taken aback to find out that the whole school will be supporting me for the year. That was an added surprise so I’m even further blown away.”
The mayor also presented each senior student with their new badges and ties.
