CHILDREN at Holy Trinity School in Calne were inspired by one of the pupils to choose CL:IC Sargant as their charity for a year, after she begged them to help her baby cousin who is receiving treatment for cancer and her family.
10-year-old Poppy, who lives in Calne, told the school's Council, which chooses a charity every year; "This is partly in support of my baby cousin Daisy who is four months old and is receiving treatment in Oxford, where Clic Sargent are helping her and her family.
"Clic Sargent is a charity that helps children with cancer and their families that need support.
"The money you help raise will go to things like the Clic Sargent House where families can stay near to the hospital."
Holy Trinity raised £184 with a non-uniform day and Poppy then ran a stall at the recent summer fair which boosted the total to £225.30.
Head teacher Graham Shore said: "Every year they nominate a charity and this year Poppy made a brilliant case for supporting Clic Sargent. The School Council agreed to co-opt Poppy on to the School Council for the year in order to facilitate this."
