THUNDER and lightning is forecast to hit Swindon at 2pm today.

A yellow warning from the Met Office suggests there could be a risk of flooding and possible travel disruption.

Light downpours have already begun and will get heavier throughout the morning, particulary after 9am, when there is a 90 per cent chance of heavy rain.

There is a 40 per cent chance of hail at 11am.

Once the thunderstorm breaks at 2pm, the rain should ease for the rest of the day with only the occasional bit of drizzle throughout the late afternoon and early evening.

Temperatures should hover around 17 and 18 degrees Celsius.
