A SECOND Nottingham man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Old Town, police confirmed.

Victoria Road was sealed off for a number of hours in the early morning of Tuesday, July 9, after paramedics were called to treat the two men.

One victim, a Swindon man in his 30s, suffered three stab or slash wounds to his head and body while the other, a man in his 20s also from Swindon, had been stabbed once in the shoulder.

Police announced the following day they had arrested a 30-year-old Nottingham man in connection with the incident.

Wiltshire Police last night confirmed they had arrested a second Nottingham man, 22.

Both men have been released on police bail pending further investigations.

Following the attack – the second in four days on Swindon’s streets – police urged calm.

Insp David Tippetts of the South Swindon community policing team said: “We know knife crime is a concern for people in Swindon and I want to reassure you that this is something we are taking incredibly seriously.

“I want to highlight that these types of assaults are very rarely random attacks and are very often linked to wider criminality in our communities.”
