A SECOND police officer has been confirmed as suffering Novichok contamination.
After former Russian intelligence officer turned defector Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were nearly killed by the deadly nerve agent at their home in Salisbury, Wiltshire police officer Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey was also affected.
Now the Metropolitan Police have confirmed a second Wiltshire officer, who does not wish to be named, was tested and found positive for the substance.
They had displayed symptoms indicating a very low exposure to the substance
The officer was treated by doctors and then was able to return to work shortly afterwards.
Six people suffered contamination from the initial Salisbury attack and Dawn Sturgess was killed by the poison after her partner Charlie Rowley found a bottle believed to contain Novichok.
