POLICE caught drivers speeding into Highworth after carrying out speed checks along Cricklade Road.
A/PS Nathan Perry and several officers from North Swindon Police carried these out after receiving several reports of motorists driving over the 30mph limit along the stretch that leads into the town.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "Numerous vehicles were stopped with words of advice being issued.
"Unfortunately, due to the significant excess speed of some of the drivers, five traffic offence reports have also been issued in relation to speeding.
"We would like to take this opportunity to remind drivers that the speed limit coming from the bottom of the hill, along Cricklade Road into Highworth, is in fact 30 mph.
"There are numerous driveways and hidden entrances that could potentially cause a significant accident, hence the speed limit.
"Please be mindful of your speed."
