THE site of the former Toys R Us near the White Hart roundabout has been sold.

The 43,215sq ft space is now owned by a mystery buyer after FI Real Estate Management agreed its sale while selling four other sites around the country which used to house the toy retailer.

The properties in Swindon, Doncaster, Coventry, Oxford and Peterborough sold for a total of £26 million to a mixture of retailers and local authorities.

A spokesman for the real estate company said: “We are delighted to have transacted so many deals. It is undoubtedly a tough retail market at present but our focus on marrying each site with a clear letting, sales or development strategy is now reaping its rewards.

“Thinking creatively and flexibly to achieve maximum value is at the core of our business plan.”

The company could not reveal who exactly bought the Swindon site due to a confidentiality agreement.

Toys R Us closed all of its UK stores in 2018.
