PERMISSION to allow part of the Brunel Shopping Centre to be used for bars, takeaways and restaurants as well as shops has been renewed.
Initially-approved plans to allow more flexibility for shop units facing Canal Walk had not been implemented and were due to expire so a new application had to be submitted..
As well as extra flexibility, the plans allow for an outdoor seating area and external improvements.
The plans form part of an ambitious bid to transform Canal Walk into a food-focused hub that would keep the area busy outside of shopping hours.
Peter Campbell of WYG Environment Planning Transport Ltd wrote: "The proposed redevelopment of the identified units will provide both physical improvements to the town centre and facilitate a new lease of life for activity on Canal Walk, to the benefit of the vitality and viability of the town centre’s offer."
