A NEPALI teen said to have had a baseball bat in the front of his car denies possession of an offensive weapon.

Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning, Rehash Rai, 19, of Horsham Road, Park South, spoke only to confirm his personal details and not guilty pleas.

Prosecutors allege Rai was in possession of the weapon, namely a baseball bat, in Kingswood Avenue in the early hours of July 1. Police had been called to the Park North road following reports of a fight.

A bat, said by Rai's solicitor to be rounders bat-size, was said to have been found in the passenger seat of Rai’s car.

Magistrates adjourned the case. Rai was released on unconditional bail to appear before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 28, for the trial.

Rai, wearing a grey tracksuit jumper, was represented by Gordon Hotson. Pauline Lambert appeared for the Crown.
