THE Don’t Cash Out campaign will be launched tomorrow to highlight mental health challenges, including financial issues, abuse and suicide.

Swindon Borough Council and 15 providers are teaming up to offer a range of events from tomorrow and throughout the week.

National mental health charity Time to Change will be at the parkrun tomorrow in Lydiard Park from 9am. This will be followed by a mental wellbeing awareness session runners can join.

IPSUM will stage an art exhibition at the Brunel on Monday 9, showcasing the connection between debt and mental health.

Men’s Mental Health Swindon campaigners will screen a documentary called Steve on September 12 at the Arts Centre from 7.30pm. Bristol film-maker Ben Akers was inspired for his 90-minute work by the case of his best friend Steve Yates who took his own life some years ago.

Co-founder of the first Men’s Mental Health campaign in Swindon Alex Pollock said: “The documentary looks to help men battling depression and suicidal thoughts, as well as educating communities and friendship groups on how they can support each other.

“I’m hoping the powerful message gets people thinking differently towards suicide, in the hope that conversations on the topic become more comfortable to have.”

Several charities in Swindon will be running social media campaigns sharing advices and support as well as raising awareness. For further details visit the Time to Change Swindon Facebook page.
