A MAN who used a kitchen knife to stab his victim in the leg, hands and liver has been jailed.
Daniel Bodman, 22, launched the vicious attack after returning home from a night out.
After scrapping with his victim, a 21-year-old man who was known to him, Bodman grabbed a chef's knife from the kitchen and turned on the younger man.
Detectives said it was unbelievable Bodman's victim - rushed to Southmead Hospital for treatment - had made such a good recovery in the two months since the stabbing.
Bodman, of Frogmore Road, Westbury, pleaded guilty to a charge of GBH with intent and was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court to seven-and-a-half years imprisonment.
Welcoming the sentence, Det Sgt Rob Goacher of Melksham CID said: "This was a frenzied attack by Bodman which left his victim in a serious condition in intensive care, suffering with multiple injuries.
"Violent behaviour of this nature is completely unacceptable.
"This incident lasted only a matter of minutes, but the level of the injuries inflicted on the victim were so serious that it is almost unbelievable that he has made such a good recovery.
"I am pleased that a custodial sentence has been handed to Bodman. It reflects the seriousness of his actions, and sends a clear message that violence of this nature will simply not be tolerated and we will ensure offenders are put before the courts so that justice can be served."
