A HIGHWORTH pub is set to close, it has been reported.
The owners of the Goldfinger Tavern, Newburgh Place, took to Facebook to announce the pub would be closing for good on Sunday.
They wrote: "We had every intention of staying open and seeing it through to November, but it is no longer viable to keep the business open.
"We’d like to ask you all to respect our decision, as it is one that has not been taken lightly, but we need to do what is best for everyone in this situation.
"There will be no official leaving party, as it has all been decided very last minute, but just having everyone together one last time, would mean the world to all of us. So, we’d like to ask you all to join us for one final weekend at the Goldie and let’s go out with a blast."
The Goldfinger Tavern was opened in 1972 by the widow of James Bond creator Ian Fleming.

Ann Fleming, who continued to live in nearby village Sevenhampton after the death of her husband in 1964, was photographed by the Adver alongside members of the Highworth Drama Society dressed as characters from the Goldfinger film.
She was quoted saying: "My husband would have been absolutely delighted. It’s a super idea."
