War medals have been stolen from a property in Beaulieu Close.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary on the morning of Monday September 23 during which a number of sentimental war medals were stolen.

A window was forced open and a selection of miniature war medals were lifted.
Five of the medals are identical, bar the dates, and reflect service in Oman.

PC Kevin Payne, of the Swindon North Community Policing Team, said: “I find it abhorrent that someone could take items which are obviously held in high regard by the elderly owner. Medals like these are a symbol of bravery and active service in the armed forces.

"For someone to take these from a person who has served their country is beyond comprehension and I would urge the public to get in touch if they have any information about the break in, or if they have seen the medals for sale.

“It is possible that the suspect will boast about their find, and I hope that even someone who knows who is responsible would realise the impact of this loss and contact us.”

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190094377.
