The final recommendation for redrawing the electoral map of Wiltshire has been made.

And while things look similar, there are some significant, and not uncontroversial changes.

The recommendations to Parliament by the Local Government Boundary Commission says Wiltshire Council should continue to be made up of 98 councillors representing sing-member divisions.

In Royal Wootton Bassett there were discussions about Broad Town, with the commission originally suggesting it be included in Lyneham division, but agreeing to recommend its inclusion in Royal Wootton Basset South and West, its proposed new name for the town's South division

Chairman of the Commission, Professor Colin Mellors said:“We are extremely grateful to people across Wiltshire who took part in the review. The commission has looked at all the evidence that was put forward during the consultation.

“We believe these recommendations deliver electoral fairness for voters as well as reflecting community ties throughout Wiltshire.”

A draft order will be put to Parliament in the coming months to allow the new arrangements to be used at the council elections in 2021.
