THE area of the Beatles, the Stones and other epoch-making acts will be evoked at Swindon Arts Centre on Sunday.

Cool Britannia, described as a ride through the Swinging Sixties, is the work of the 20th Century Foxes, a seven-piece ensemble of veteran professional musicians led by Matt Bragg.

Complete with a big-screen video backdrop of iconic images, the show covers everything from the saccharine pop that began the decade to the acid-fried psychedelia which ended it.

In addition to mainstream rock and pop from the British Invasion acts which flew the flag for the country throughout the world, there are tracks from acts as diverse as Billy Fury and Cliff Richard and the Shadows, easy listening giant Matt Monro and hit show tunes from composers such as Lionel Bart of Oliver! fame.

The show will start at 7.30pm and run for about three hours, including two short intervals.
