A VAPE store boss has hit out at 'barefaced lies' coming from America about the habit.

E-Cigarette Direct, which has a branch in the Brunel Shopping Centre, has seen its is revenue drop following the reports.

Vaping has been linked to respiratory issues by the Food and Drug Administration, caused by the use of unregulated THC cartridges using vitamin E acetate - a salt combined with a colourless acetic acid.

Here is what you said on Facebook:

Mark Bye: Sick to death of this. The only thing that has got me off tobacco is coming under attack. I have been lowering nicotine levels with a view to stop completely, but this fake news just gives me a kick in the teeth. Thinking of going back into tobacco!

Tina Ryan: I'm asthmatic. My son used his vape in my presence and ever since that moment I've suffered with a lot of fluid in my lungs which has affected my breathing and my voice. Has anyone else had the same problem who is asthmatic? Maybe the vape companies need to check this as it could cause extra strain on the NHS.

Gemma Elliot: 11 people have died in the US due to lung issues caused by vaping ... how many people die per day from lung issues due to smoking cigarettes?

Most of these deaths have occurred in older people that have likely been smokers their entire lives but the damage has been caused simply by vaping...

Joanna Millin: This is US-based and their products are completely different. They use THC oils to begin with ,which is where these things have occured from. I gave up smoking with vaping, best thing I did. However, I then gave up vaping too not long after. Three years later I don't think about it. What do people want?Smoking is now is now so restricted, yet people still moan.

Robert Weyman: In the short-term as an aid to quit smoking fine, but as a replacement altogether no.

Linda Lee: It took years to prove links of cancer to smoking. It will be years before its proven bad for you.

Terry McBride: Bootleg marijuana vaping kits used, five deaths reported – out of ten if thousands who vape – let alone the simple fact that tobacco has been proven to kill. But no, the hysterical media is clambering to ban vaping: hoping to whip up their loyal readers to (make) a story.

Sandra Edmondson: When I see someone exhaling with these, I always think of a room with damp. People's lungs, which act as sponges must be affected with these.

Dan Matthews: It's still a significantly lower death rate than smoking, even with the black market vape juices being used.

Daniel Irwin: Put anything other than oxygen in on a regular basis and you're going to hurt your lungs.

Chris Johnson: It's the black market THC oil. Nothing to with legal vape juice. I've been vaping for about five years. And it's done no harm to me...

And here is a selection of comments from our website...

TTswindon: You don't have to be a doctor to realise that regularly sucking oil, flavourings and chemicals into your lungs is not going to be good for you. They might say vaping is not as bad as smoking cigarettes but it is still going to cause damage so the best bet is to do neither.

Al Smith: It's worth remembering that nicotine was used as an insecticide. Then there are neonicotinoids which are a class of insecticides chemically similar to nicotine. Then there are all the other chemicals in vaping fluid. So yes vaping is safer than smoking but that doesn't make it 100 per cent safe.
