A decision to allow the developers of the North Star snow centre more time to get the investment needed to proceed will be discussed by councillors on Monday.
The Conservative cabinet member for the town centre Dale Heenan is understood to have allowed Seven Capital more time to get the money together to start work on building the £270m complex on cleared land opposite the Oasis Leisure Centre.
That confidential decision has been 'called in' to the scrutiny committee by councillor Stan Pajak, an opposition Liberal Democrat member.
It means members of the committee will be able to question Coun Heenan about his decision.
That part of the meeting will he held in private with members of the press and public excluded.
Seven Capital says it is confident of raising all the money it needs and that work should start in the early months of 2020. It had hoped to start work in spring this year
