A GANG of four jumped a man in the town centre in the early hours, kicking him to the head and body.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, received injuries to his knees, arms and hands in the attack.

Police said he the man was walking from Fleet Street when he was approached by two men at around 3.45am this morning near the Manchester Road bus stop.

He was assaulted and fell to the floor. The first two attackers were joined by another pair - both men - and the assault continued.

The four suspects are all described as being aged between 18 and 25. One was white, of average build, approximately 5 ft 7 inches tall, with dark hair. He was wearing a black hooded top and jeans. Another was described as white, average build, approximately 5 ft 9 inches tall, with short dark hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and possibly a silver chain around his neck.

Police also want to speak to a white woman, around 5 ft 6 inches, with a tattoo on her upper arm. Officers hope she will be able to identify the men involved.

A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: "We’d urge anyone who was in the area who witnessed the assault,or any motorists - especially taxi drivers – who may have dash cam footage which could help our investigation to get in touch."
