A STELLAR Stagecoach bus driver from Swindon won a top award for the second year in a row.

Gurnam Singh received the Stagecoach West Customer Service Driver of the Year award once again after going the extra mile for his passengers.

He said: “I am very happy with my job. I really enjoy every day, talking to different people and learning from them.

"I love being a part of Stagecoach and work with some fantastic people. I am so happy and proud to have won the Driver of the Year award.

"This award shows that my customers like me and the company appreciates what I do.”

Mr Singh has been a Stagecoach bus driver for five years and won the same award in 2018. His picture has been displayed on the back of a Swindon bus to mark his achievement.

The honour was part of the bus company's fifth annual Stagecoach West Customer Service Awards at the De Vere Cotswold Water Park Hotel in Cirencester.

The evening aimed to recognise the staff that go above and beyond their daily job roles. and reward them.

Drivers who have received commendations from customers or nominations from co-workers are put in the spotlight for a number of competitive award categories with special Customer Service Award pin badges up for grabs.

Stagecoach West managing director Rupert Cox presented the awards.

He said: “We are incredibly proud of the professionalism and dedication of our drivers, and these awards are a fitting celebration of their achievements.

"We had some fantastic feedback during the nomination process and these awards are very well deserved. Congratulations to all.”

The special Customer Service Award pin badges were awarded to Top Apprentice winner Andy Jordan, MD Award winner Dee Harries, long-term driver Tim Marsh who has worked at Stagecoach for 45 years,

Other winners included Nick Edwards for having the best safety driving score and receiving the Eco-Driver Best in West award, and Justin Lee, Lee Finch and Ian Phillips for winning the #Support Award.
