A DRINK-driver who shares his surname with a comic strip copper has been banned from the roads by magistrates.
Joseph Judge Dredd, who also goes by the alias Guy Stuart Scattergood, admitted being twice over the drink drive limit.
The 49-year-old Dacia Duster driver, of Pinehurst Road, was found by police to have 74 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.
He was fined £120, given a 20 month driving disqualification and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
Judge Dredd is a fictional superhero in the comic strip bible 2000 AD.
He is a so-called street judge in dystopian metropolis Mega-City One and has the power to arrest, try and summarily execute anyone he suspects of wrongdoing.
The character rose to prominence partly thanks to the mid-1990s film starring Sylvester Stallone in the titular role.
