New polling stations will be put into use rather sooner than anticipated if councillors agree next week.

After a review of polling districts and stations used in elections, members of Swindon Borough Council will be asked to approve a change to three which has been endorsed by the ruling Conservative cabinet.

And if the changes get the nod, with a general election being called for December 12, the new stations could be seeing action almost immediately.

If the plans are approved voters in Wroughton will cast their votes at the Alexandra House Hotel rather than Ellendune Community Centre.

In Mannington and Western Toothill Community Centre will be used instead of Hazelwood Academy.

In Ridgeway ward a new polling district could be created for newer streets around the Great Western Hospital in the corner formed by the Marlborough Road as it turns west from the Commonhead Roundabout. Voters will be asked to go to Richard Jefferies Museum.

The meeting starts at 7pm on Thursday.
