THE mayor of Highworth talked about her favourite aspects of the town she represents and has lived in for many years.

Coun Julia Bishop said: "I'm very proud to be a Highworth resident. It's an excellent town to live in, it's kept very well and the floral displays are fantastic.

"It shows that people really appreciate the village and put a lot of care into it..

"People are so friendly and there are a huge amount of societies here that cover everything you could possibly wish to do.

"St Michael's Church is a massive asset, it's lovely and hosts a lot of community events.

"As a town, Highworth has a lot to offer."

Fellow councillor Keith Smith in his non-political role as chair of the HCPG hoped to showcase all that the town can offer in the Visit Highworth centre.

In addition, it offers facilities for locals to use. Its community space will be used to host workshops including a Christmas card-making guide for children on December 2.

More than 30 youngsters took part in a ghost walk for Halloween. A full diary of events will be published in January.

Organisers can give guided tours of the town or advise guests on where to visit.

They hope to invite artists to paint in the windows, and offer more craft-related workshops in the future.

Businesses around town will advertise the centre and direct customers to it in a bid to boost tourism and shine a light on Highworth's lesser-known features.
