A DRUG dealer who has turned his life around in the three years he has been wanted by police faces jail.

Mason Kelly was stopped by police in a car in Swindon in 2016. He was found to have around £300 of heroin and crack cocaine.

The 23-year-old Londoner went no comment in interview and was released on police bail. Officers were given the go-ahead to charge him and sent court summons to his last known address.

But Kelly had moved and never got the letter. A warrant was issued for his arrest. The dealer, who was also wanted on recall to prison for breaching his licence conditions, handed himself into police in September when he realised there was a warrant out for his arrest.

Kelly admitted possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.

Tom Wilkins, defending, said Kelly had turned his life around in the three years since he had been picked up in Swindon. He had gone from a job at noodle bar Wagamama to restaurant Bill’s, where it was claimed he was such a good worker that they were keeping a job open for him.

Judge Peter Crabtree ordered a pre-sentence report: “The starting point is custody,”

Kelly is due back before Swindon Crown Court on December 13.
