TRAFFIC is slow or stationary around Rodbourne as Christmas shoppers head to the designer outlet.
There are queues on Wootton Bassett Road, Westcott Place, Rodbourne Road, Great Western Way and Kemble Drive.
Swindon Bus Company said there were significant delays on services 1, 1A, 5, 19 and 22 as a result of congestion around Rodbourne.
Those living around Rodbourne and the designer outlet have long complained of heavy traffic – particularly at Christmas and when large scale events are being held at the Steam Museum.
Swindon Borough Council has promised action. One possible solution being looked at is to create a new left turn from Rodbourne Road onto Great Western Way at the Bruce Street Bridges junction. The intention is to make it easier for traffic from Rodbourne to get onto the dual carriageway, reducing waiting times on Rodbourne Road.
