POLICE have been granted a partial closure order for a Swindon home in a bid to prevent drug dealing from the premises.

The application for the order was heard at Swindon Magistrates Court on January 7 for an address in Ballyack Close.

The order aims to protect nearby residents from criminal activity and anti-social behaviour taking place at the property.

Only the resident or those listed on the notice will be allowed into the property. Anyone else may be committing an offence and may be arrested.

PC Jack Newman said: “We have worked closely with the council and housing association GreenSquare who have been instrumental in the work involved in obtaining this closure order.

“There have been numerous reports of drug use and dealing from the premises which on occasion has led to intimidating and anti-social behaviour, which has been having a really negative impact on local residents.

“ This was one of two closure orders granted at Swindon Magistrates Court yesterday. I hope this provides some reassurance to residents that we will take action against issues reported to us.”

Anyone with concerns that drug activity is taking place in their neighbourhood should call 101.
