The British Heart Foundation is looking for volunteers in Swindon.

The UK’s biggest independent funder of research into heart and circulatory diseases will be holding a Heart Stars weekend at Tesco Extra on Ocotal Way on February 7 and 8.

Volunteers willing to give up two hours of their time on each day are needed to hold buckets which will collect donations from shoppers.

In the Swindon area alone, the BHF estimates around 21,400 people are living with the daily burden of heart and circulatory diseases. By funding research, the charity aims to find ways to better prevent, diagnose, treat and cure these conditions, which will save and improve lives.

BHF fundraising manager for Swindon Jane Turner said: “Heart and circulatory diseases are the cause of one in four deaths in the UK, so more research is urgently needed to help us beat heartbreak, forever.”
