After 21 years at the helm of The Harrow in Little Bedwyn, the owners have decided to hang up their aprons for the last time.

The doors close at the multi-award winning restaurant for the last time on March 28.

Sue and Roger Jones are making the to move into the world of food consultancy and wine judging after notching up awards including 12 years of Michelin Stars, AA Restaurant of the Year, and the Times Top 100 .

"We are reaching 60, the kids have left home, and it is just time," said Roger. "We will of course miss the hustle and bustle, but we feel that its good to go while we are still loving it and we have high hopes for a slightly more balanced life style."

The news will come as a shock to their guests and food and wine suppliers from all over the world.

"Since we made the announcement last week, we have been inundated with bookings, " he said. "We have taken 400 bookings and are now fully booked until March. Many of those booking are customers and suppliers who have visited us and worked with us over the years."

The Harrow has provided many local youngsters with their first steps in the food and hospitality industry, with some now managing 5 star hotels and restaurants.

"We feel that we have achieved everything and more than we can and it is time to move onto other things. Our experience has been made possible by the loyalty and support of our dear friends and family, not forgetting top suppliers, talented winemakers and an amazing trade that has seen us through so many highlights”.

The Jones reserve their biggest thanks their head chef:

" Johnny has seen us through many a late night and a lot of bottles in his incredible 20 years of service. We also want to commend our staff present and past, most of whom we are still in touch with and will always remain part of our Harrow Family."
