A WHOLE school put their running shoes on to boost the coffers of a charity which has supported the family of its cook who lost her husband to Motor Neurone Disease.
More than 200 children from Southbroom St James Academy in Devizes helped raise nearly £1,200 for Dorothy House hospice at Winsley, near Bradford on Avon.
Deputy head Bethany Maidment said: “We ran for Dorothy House as they had been working closely with the family of our amazing school cook, Tracey Stevens who sadly lost her husband, Jim Stevens, to Motor Neurone Disease last month.
“The children showed our school values of friendship, perseverance and courage and we are so proud of them.”
The children dressed up for the Elf Run and ran between four and eight laps of the school field just before the end of term in December.Those who completed the full eight laps ran nearly three miles.
The school is planning on holding another charity run in 2020.
