MAGISTRATES were forced to remand a man accused of disorderly behaviour – because he wouldn’t put his clothes on.
Mark Scott, 46, stripped off his clothes and was engaging in what the court recorded only as “misbehaviour” in holding cells at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.
The homeless man, who is South African, faced a charge of behaving in a disorderly manner in Salisbury on February 5.
But he could not be put in the dock to enter his pleas. The court record cited the reasons for that no-show as misbehaviour, refusing to engage with the duty solicitor and getting naked in the cells.
The justices recorded a not guilty plea and remanded him in custody until a bail hearing on February 12.
Mark Glendenning of Swindon solicitors' firm Reeds was recorded as the duty solicitor.
The chairman of the magistrates' bench was Simon Wolfensohn.
