Flats in a part of Swindon primarily used for business, and the expansion of a shared house of multiple occupation, will be discussed tonight by council planners.

Up for debate is a plan by Rotstone Developments to build four three-storey blocks of three flats each opposite the Quadrant block in Stonehill Green in Mannington and Western.

The Quadrant office block itself has recently been given approval for its conversion to 100 flats.

Another application, to convert a six-person HMO to an eight-person house by way of an extension, in Prospect Hill in Old Town, will be discussed by councillors as it has been ‘called in’ by South Swindon Parish Council.

The lower authority objects because the plans don't provide enough living room or dining room space and because it feels there are too many HMOs in the area.

The meeting begins at 6pm in the council chamber in Euclid Street.

Members of the public are entitled to attend.
