ARSONIST David Jack’s mother claimed her boy might never have been in the dock - if he’d received the right mental health help.

Rhona Jack told the Adver she had repeatedly urged NHS mental health bosses to help her son. The man’s health had regularly hit crisis point. She said: “It didn’t have to come to this. I know that the mental health services are stretched. Part of the issue is when people get assessed after being in crisis, the people assessing them don’t have the experience.

“For a mother it’s heart-breaking. I’ve done everything I can and he’s lost his way.

“I’ve told Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust repeatedly that he was at risk of harming others and I’ve been ignored.”
