FOR those who have never played Dungeons & Dragons before, finding fellow fans may prove difficult.

But groups of players are being formed in different areas of Swindon, either at home or in public spaces.

Chris Edmonds-Hunt, 22, from Moredon, meets his friends in Old Town at Firestorm Games shop on Sundays to play D&D.

The group consists of four to eight players.

He said: “The fact of being able to play a game with fictional characters without playing on a screen caught my attention.

“And it’s also technology-free.”

Chris added: “It has allowed us to stay away from videogames and have more face-to-face interaction.”

He played for the first time a couple of months ago but didn’t take too long for him to find his step.

Chris said: “The person running the game took us slowly into it, explaining it step by step.

“Soon you find yourself playing without help.”

The Incredible Comic Shop in the Brunel Shopping Centre is regularly organising Dungeons & Dragons event.

Almost a year ago, owners Johnathan Brown and Troy Loveday set up Brunel Knights, a free gaming event inviting people from Swindon and the surrounding areas to play more than 100 games.

Anyone can attend the event and it is free of charge.
