CONSTANT heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 57mph will hit Swindon today as Storm Dennis arrives.

After a little light rain around 9.30am, the chance of heavy rain rises to more than 95 per cent at 10am and will stay that high until 4pm, when it dips down to a 90 per cent chance.

This means that downpours will drench the town throughout the day and a yellow weather warning has been issued across Wiltshire for possible flooding and power cuts.

Wind speeds will reach 30mph with gusts of up to 57mph in the afternoon. A separate yellow weather warning has been issued for this because the winds could cause disruption for bus and rail travel.

Humidity will be very high - up to 94 per cent at times.

Temperatures will vary between 11 and eight degrees Celsius.

Other parts of the country have received amber-level weather warnings in anticipation of more severe wind and rain.

The bad weather is expected to continue into Sunday.
