TRAINS from London will not be stopping at Swindon tonight – as Network Rail engineers fix power lines damaged in the recent storms.

In a statement GWR said: “Following damage to the overhead electric wires between Didcot Parkway and Reading, as a result of the recent severe weather, Network Rail will be carrying out emergency repairs overnight on Tuesday, February 18.

“Due to the nature of the repairs the railway will be closed between Didcot Parkway and Reading from 9.30pm Tuesday, February 18, to 6am Wednesday, February 19.”

Services between London Paddington, Bristol and south Wales will not call at Didcot, Swindon or Chippenham.

There will be a replacement bus service.

Normal service should resume by 6am on Wednesday morning.
