A £1,000 gift from a housing developer will help a cancer charity stage music therapy sessions for youngsters on the children's ward at the Great Western Hospital.

The CALM Trust was handed the money by Persimmon Homes Wessex as part of its community champions scheme.

The company donates up to £2,000 each month shared between good causes.

Lucy Young, from the charity, said: “This donation means so much to us and we have finally reached our fundraising target.

“The charity supports all local families who have a child with cancer or leukaemia. It is run solely by parents and volunteers.

“In order to continue our work in supporting those most in need within our community and the surrounding areas, we need donations like this.”
